Technical Tours
During WTC2025 in Stockholm we’ll be offering an array of technical tours around Stockholm to peak everyones interest: from a giant traffic tunnel to a historic mine to novel urban development to Sweden’s explosive past.

Stockholm City, Loudden
Duration: 09:30-12:00 (on site) and 13:30-16:00 (on site)
Description: Loudden Petroleum Harbour – Urban development at its best showcasing the reuse of underground facilities. In an old industrial environment located in northern Stockholm, petroleum products have been stored both above ground in large cisterns and underground in large rock caverns. The rock caverns are now being cleaned up, then reinforced before new construction can begin above. Now we have the luxury of extra space in Stockholm, so what shall we do with it? Perhaps we can come up with an idea together?
This tour is split into a morning tour and an afternoon tour. You can select which one you’d like to participate in while registering for the congress.

SFAR, Stockholm’s future sewage treatment system
Choose between visiting sewage system in Sickla or Henriksdal when registrering for the congress.
Sickla Facility
The Sickla facility, located inside the rock under Hammarbybacken, is part of the Henriksdal wastewater treatment plant. The facility is currently being expanded to accommodate more treatment stages than before. It will include coarse filtering, sand filtration, and primary sedimentation.
530,000 m³ of solid rock has been excavated, and large-scale installation and concrete works are now underway.
Henriksdal
During the visit, you will tour the facility and see the progress of the construction of the various treatment stages. It’s not often you get to walk underneath a ski slope.
We are upgrading the Henriksdal wastewater treatment plant with advanced technology for improved wastewater treatment. A new biological treatment system, featuring one of the world’s largest membrane filtration facilities, will be installed. Membrane technology (MBR) enables both increased capacity and higher treatment quality compared to previous methods. Additionally, we are improving pre-treatment and sludge management.
Come and see how we build, cast, and install while simultaneously treating wastewater at a facility that operates 24/7. We are building inside the rock at different levels.
Sickla Facility, 09:00-11:30 (departure 08:30 from Central Station)
Henriksdal, 13:00-15:30 (departure 12:30 from Central Station)
